About Serve City’s Volleyball Director
Jeff Smith is in his second year as volleyball director for Serve City. Jeff has coached school, club, private lessons, sand volleyball and park district leagues for 21 years in the sport and has worked with a full range of young athletes from fourth grade to college, 18U and 16U. In 2018 he served as an assistant coach with Wheaton College's women's volleyball program and has also coached high school and middle school athletes in sand volleyball for six years.
Jeff's volleyball teams have compiled a collective 539-151-2 record with 12 conference titles and 25 tournament championships. Dozens of his players have gone on to play in college and win national honors at the highest club levels. Jeff also coached basketball for 17 years and owns an overall 1,018-451-2 overall coaching record, achieving a rare milestone among coaches with his 1,000th coaching win on June 2.
Jeff also worked as Serve City's beach volleyball director in 2016, Serve City's regional volleyball director in 2016-17 and Chicago Sand Volleyball's curriculum director in 2017, where he is now a master coach. Jeff began his duties as Serve City girls director in August 2017.
“My passion is to help athletes reach their highest potential both as volleyball teams, volleyball players and especially as people,” Coach Jeff says. “I’m dedicated to helping Serve City be a place where our athletes develop their skills, athletic ability, understanding of the game and love for the game while also growing in the skills that will anchor their entire lives well beyond the volleyball court. We want to come alongside families to help their girls learn and hone not only their volleyball talents and volleyball IQ but also acquire the life lessons that will make them great students, family members, leaders, neighbors, role models and career professionals.”
